Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Colon, who left us on the morning of July 16, 2024, at the age of 79, after a short bout with cancer.

Ronald was born on February 23, 1945, in the Bronx, New York. He was a lifelong resident of the New York City metro area and called Oceanside, NY, home for the last 38 years. In his own words, his wife, Robin, “was his whole world,” and they spent 47 happy years together. Above all else, he loved his family, and his presence brought joy and love to all who knew him.

From a young age, Ronald’s keen attention to detail and his ability to fix anything set him apart. His talent blossomed into a passion for automobiles, leading to a successful career as a mechanic. Even in retirement, he continued to use his unique talents, becoming the best gift wrapper and the go-to person for fixing anything that was broken.

Ronald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He is survived by his wife Robin, son Jason, daughter-in-law Jaime, and cherished grandchildren James and Lily. He also leaves behind his brothers Vick, Ray, Lee, Ed, his sisters Vivien and Regina, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Lilian Guzman-Colon. All will deeply miss him.

A private service will be held for family and close friends at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, NY, on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 9 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Ronald’s memory.
